I think he means the electronic button under the lip of the trunk that releases the trunk latch. Guessing it probably doesn't work since the button in the drivers door doesnt work either. That would lead to an electrical or switch problem in the trunk itself.

A recent post had something about the keyhole for the trunk being used to determine how the trunk latches/buttons worked instead of actually opening the trunk. I'm guessing it was for like a valet switch kind of thing to keep the trunk secure.

I'll try my trunk keyhole and see what I can find out.
