No fuel. Engine Cuts Out. 2005 2.0 Tdi A4
The other day whilst getting the MOT on the car it just cut out. It wouldn't run at any revs for more than a few seconds.
We changed the fuel filter but whilst doing so we lost a load of fuel as the pump was still pumping fuel as soon as we removed the plastic connector off the top of the fuel filter. The car did not have the keys in the ignition. It was really squirting it out every time we lifted the connector off the front of the filter. So we disconnected the battery and changed the filter. We primed the new filter with new diesel and it started and ran as normal for ages. The MOT test complete I drove it home maybe 2 miles.
The car stood for 2 days and then I took it out for a drive. Broke down about a mile from home. Same symptoms, just cut out but this time when driving. Would not start again.
I took off the same connector off the top of the filter and this time no pumped fuel. We tried starting with this connector off and no fuel squirted out. The filter look like its partially empty of fuel so my thoughts are pump or relay?
Any ideas. I know my way around cars but not so much the Audi. I'm not even sure which relay it is. Can I get to the pump myself ?
Thanks in Advance.

If the key was out and the pump kept pumping/running...something didn't tell it to shut off...but disconnecting the battery cut power to the whole car and it stopped, correct?
And now it's not pumping fuel at all, so, I'm GUESSING, it may be a bad relay....
Your fuel pump in your car is in the tank...which is kind of a pain to replace....
Check your modules and relays first, then go from there...if the module or relay got wet or waterlogged for awhile, it could cause all kinds of havoc....
Have you scanned for codes?

Thanks. I don't have a scanner and as it turns out I've been a bit of a dick. My car is a B7 ! So I've posted this in the wrong place.
Its still not pumping so I think its probably the relay. Question is on a B7. Which one. I've managed to flatten the battery trying so its on charge.
Thanks for the help. Even though its in the wrong place !

Your fuel pump is still in the tank and it's a low pressure pump.
The fuel pump relay is 618 or 614 I Think..... 5 pin, I believe, and if i remember correctly and its the front relay under the ECU, under driver's side dashboard...I don't know which one it really is, you'll have to google it....or pull it out.
