PCV Hose Problem
Hi all,
This is my first time posting on this forum, but I have been a long time reader and your posts have really helped me out in the past. I have a 2003 A4 Cabriolet 3.0. For a little while I have had the MIL on, and when I read the codes p0174, p0171, and p0421 came up. Two months ago the fuel pump died and I had it replaced at the mechanic; they told me then that a PCV hose seemed to be disconnected a bit. They also said that this could possibly be a cause of a vacuum leak, and I believe a vacuum leak would lead to those codes. However, the problem is that they estimated $1000 to replace the PCV hose, due to the labor cost of getting to it. I'm a teacher and don't really have that kind of money to spend on the car right now, so I'm wondering if I keep driving the car in this condition, would that be ok? Additionally, is connecting the hose/replacing it something that I (with limited experience) could do at home? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

when the car is running are you hearing a sound like air escaping or a vaccum sound? i am recently dealing with this and there was a check valve in the vaccum line that was broken. it shows a cel and the car isnt running normally. mine was between the engine and the firewall on a small hose to the right. you can replace it with another check valve from audi or a vaccum tube conector and some new clamps from auto store. its a pita.
