Problem With B6 A4 3.0 -Need Help ASAP
Ahh, to be young at heart. There is one or two other things that can cause your car to die like that, especially when you stop.
Low/bad battery or alternator. Run out of juice, things quit. Especially when you step on the brake or use the lights or turn signal. Put it in Park, turn the key, it starts back up. Until you hit the brakes.
The other thing? Clogged fuel line or filter. Clogged air filter.
Start with the simple stuff first. Then go for timing belts, etc...

Could also be "bad" gas -- maybe water in the tank. Try a bottle of drygas, too. A trip to Autozone to pull any codes could help pinpoint the problem.
At 70k I would also vote for replacing the fuel filter if it has never been done. I've always put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in all my cars about once every 2-3 months to clean things out. Not sure if it really helps, but I have 155k miles on my A6 and she runs fine.

bad coilpacks are a very common problem with these cars so definitely something you should check. sometimes they're just loose so you adjust accordingly but more often they just go bad. autozone will give you a free scan if you don't have vag good luck
Sorry for bringing back an old Thread but this problem is happening again. I just did the Timing Belt and put another new MAF in.... But still stalls....
In order for the car to run good after it stalls I must disco the battery and plug it back in to reset comp. Battery is also brand new..

Did you find a resolution to your problem?
Cheers.
ya the timing belt thing scars me...I have heard horror stories that they can break around 70k miles most at 90k though. My car ran for a fraction of a second after a car accadent when the timing belt was ever so slightly damaged, just enough to jump the time...engine damage $5k. Don't mess with the timing belt in the 3.0. Period. Regardless of transmission, I hear that CVT is horrible, the 3.0 timing is complex and not something to mess around with.
