I have a 2005 A4 Avant 1.8 Quattro. Since buying the car new in 2005, I've had the regulator break and replaced on the front driver's side and front passenger's side. I've been told, and based on the numerous regulator posts, this is a common problem.

Besides not using the windows, is there any way to prevent this problem?
