Thinking about switching from a Passat...
I have an '04 2.8 4motion that I love, but I'm having water ingress issues. This time, it's not a clogged but a broken passenger side sunroof drain. I'm getting tired of these kinds of issues, and I'm thinking about a 2.0 A4 avant. My VW shop said that even though Audi and VW share some things, the cars are really different. He said that he's not had any Audi water issues like the VWs, but I'm assuming most Audi owners and keeping them in garages, so that might skew the numbers. What do you guys think; would I be making a lateral move as far major maintenance issues?
I guess I'm not as concerned with maintenance as I am with engineering failures. The whole idea that Passats flood and most VW owners seem cool with it is astounding to me. I'm pretty handy as far as replacing sensors and maintaining the car, and I can take the thing apart when I need the insulation under the carpet dry, but I just don't want to do that anymore. I'm lucky that the water hasn't gotten to the ECU yet. Will I run into similar major catastrophic failures with an A4?
i mean the sunroof on audi does have issues, just got to keep them cleaned out.... i don't really have that issue as i never use mine
tb/wp, suspension, vac lines.... blah blah blah is an issue.... search the faq's for the b6
but i think the car your looking at is a 1.8t, not a 2.0
