What's correct gapping and torque for spark plugs?
All,
What is the correct plug gapping for 2004 A4 3.0Q? Also, anyone know what is the correct torque to install it?
The NGK plugs are pre-gapped at 0.044". Do I need to re-gap it?
Thanks for your help.

I went through this earlier this year, here is where I got some info.

Basically the .044 will work fine, but closer to .032 is a bit better, though I do not understand exactly why.
For torque specs, snug the plugs up by hand and then crank them down about a quarter turn.

The wider the gap, the more energy it takes to create a spark..If your coils arent up to the task, you'll misfire more (every engine misfires to some extent). Also, larger gaps help create a smoother idle and low end criuse due to the greater spark exposure, but works against you at the upper rpm range becuase its harder to get consistant spark. OEM's set the recommended gap to a compromise of both conditions.
So, the recomended is .044" , you could take it down to .40"-.42, but I'd leave it.
The torque is 22ftlbs...
