I have an 06 quattro it has 96k . in morning when its cold it goes into what i think is limp mode, PRNDS does not light up, reverse lights do not work and it starts out and stays in what feels like third gear, once the car warms up and i switch the car off and restart the PRNDS lights up and runs fine. Any clues I had it scanned and shows u0101 . New to Forum and AUDI

 

Try googling that code and you will find some information. Boils down to the ECU lossing communication with the TCM (transmission control module). It could be as simple as a loose or dirty connection or maybe the TCM is starting to go bad. I would check all the connections first.

 

Thanks for the help Im thinking it might be a tcm or just a loose connection but I can't find the tcm in this car. Did some research says its under passenger seat, didnt see it. Does anyone know where it is located on this car 06 a4 quattro 2.0t

 

From looking online it looks like it is under the cowl.

I have same car with same problem. Every morning no PRNDS on the display and after 10 min PRNDS pop up and car is good to go. When warm no problems until next morning. I'm looking for place to send my TCM for check and repair.
