Just an update to the original post.. I ended up having to take the car in for service this morning. The car started smoking from ignition, and anytime under any sort of load.... it was pretty bad yesterday.

We'll see what happens...

Default My issue

Update:

Sorry for hyjacking the thread. The dealer did the oil consumption test and the car is using 1.2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. So Audi approved to have the motor pulled and the rings redone. This is a pretty frustrating situation concidering the car has only 44k on it. Hopefully this takes care of the situation. In the mean time I'm driving a 2011 A4. Pretty sweet ride..

Default Update ::

Got a letter from Audi yesterday extending the warranty on:

Intake Camshaft, Camshaft Follower & High Pressure Fuel Pump

Click here to see the letter.

Extends out to 10 years on those parts, transferrable to other owners... Hopefully the piston rings are next..

Im having the same problem with my 07 2.0 FSI. It only smokes above 2500rpm except my engine light just came on and it studders (sp?) at high RPM. It only happens after the engine is warmed up. Could it be the same issue or is my head gasket blown. I live 3 hours from the nearest Audi dealer.

See if a local VW dealer will look at it for you. They use the same 2.0t in Jetta, GTI and Passat's. No difference. (Studdering is a strong symptom of coil packs, did you have the recall done on yours?)

Yea I was thinking about just going to the VW shop. I wasnt aware of the recall. I'am the second owner and have only had it for 6 months now.

and a faulty coil pack will make it smoke at higher rpms or under a load? IE going up a large hill?

One time my coil went out and it just ran rough. Another time one went out it would barely run. Just stumbled on it's face and felt like it had no turbo aand had massive vibration. It could feel like anything. I would say that coils are your most likely cause as well as cheapest. Recall is free.
