QUESTION: What should I do with my lemon?
Hi!
I have a question. Information first.
I bought my car in May of 2012. It was a certified pre-owned, with the warranty up to 100k. It came with 36k. Now has 49k. (couple long road journeys)
I've had to go the dealership almost once/twice a week for a month or two now. It's been hectic having to go back again and again after check engine lights, water pump failure, different whines and noises that I know are not germaine to this vehicle.
I just feel like I got jipped from the dealer (Audi Tyson's Corner). I paid good money for my car, especially as a college student and using my savings to buy the car of my dreams... that I can afford. I thought having the warranty would help.. and it has, but I did not at all expect to have this many problems with my Audi, especially in only a couple of months.
What should I do? Is there any way to get any assistance from Audi of America or the dealership? Have you heard of anything similar?
Of course, I could just sell the car and buy a different one, but I don't feel that it's fair to lose the value on the car after a couple months just because Audi didn't properly certify the car they sold me! What would you advise to a young (and first Audi) buyer?

I'm actually having the same problem as you with my 09 Audi A4 that i bought as a pre-owned last September. I bought the car knowing it was in a accident and was assured that the car didn't have any problems and was only being sold because it's safe. Now I've been hearing loud ticking noises that weren't there before and some type of noise the comes from underneath the car when i lightly step on the gas. I took it to the dealership twice after complaining about it and each time I was told there is nothing to worry about then I know for a fact that my friends audi does not make the same noises that mine does.
The only thing i can do is since I have a extended warranty I can take it to any Audi dealership and since i live near two Audi dealerships, I plan on taking it to the one that hasn't turned me down.

Just found out that the turbo has to be replaced. At 49k miles. I think I agree with the other posts about trading it in for a Honda or Toyota...
But there is something that I love about Audi that I don't feel about the Honda/Toyota type cars.
Do you think it'd be possible to talk to the dealer and give me the exact same car with roughly the same mileage as a trade? How far would the dealer go?

Damn, that is bad news. I remember reading about problems the '09 A4's had with the 2.0TFSI but wow. I would of thought that the new model bugs would have been worked out when it hit the US in '09 since the German's had the A4 B8's at the end of '07 and the first 2.0TFSI (211hp) hit the streets here in '08. Hope you guys get a break.
Good luck
Good luck
I agree here. I just got rid of my 2014 A4for the 2014 Mazda 6. It's a noticeable difference for sure. The Audi is going to cost you money even if it's working perfectly because you have do more maintenance. If you get another one, just make you budget for maintenance.
