Thinking of purchasing a 2011 audi a4.
Hi guys I'm thinking of purchasing a 2011 audi a4 2.0t. What are the most common problems with these models? What should I look for when purchasing a used audi? What questions should I ask the dealer like when was the timing belt replace?
All the standard questions about condition and get a Carfax. Also ask for service records if they have them. The question to ask that they won't answer is what is the oil consumption. By the way the 2011 doesn't have a timing belt. It's a chain and they usually last to around 100K miles.
Do not buy an Audi. My wife's 2012 Q5 has been meticulously serviced by the dealer. The timing chain skipped and destroyed the engine when she tried to start it. It has 72K miles! Audi is denying it. Consumers should deny Audi.
We're not alone. Search Audi timing chain tensioner and you will see.

Wow, I guess I am on borrowed time at 118k. My complaint is the oil consumption. Long trips it's about 1000-1200 miles per quart; lots of short trips is 600-800. Wish my old A6 had held up, it was on it's third timing belt and never burned a drop at 240k. This may be it's last winter.
But I do enjoy the A4 mileage at 28-31 highway. The 2.7T never did better than 24-25.
