Default Exploding Window

Has anyone seen or heard of the rear window on a 5000cs shattering into thousands of pieces? As of now I am blaming this unfortunate incident on the automotive glass cleaner used, since it completely shattered in one swift "pop" not more then a minute after it was flawlessly cleaned. I'm curious as to whether the rear window on these cars have a fragile history.[:@]

I doubt the cleaner had anything to do with it. I think that the window was already stressed and just by coincidence it shattered during cleaning when you applied a slight amount of pressure.

It shattered about a minute after the cleaning was complete, not while cleaning. I figure if the cleaner had any type of reaction with the glass a minute would be a nice little time frame for this reaction to initiate.

It was probably about 85 degrees out (Florida), but I cleaned the window in my garage (atleast 5 degrees cooler). The only water (from a garden hose) to touch the car all day was in the mourning when I washed the whole thing . The windows where cleaned later in the afternoon.

Wow that must be a fluke or something. I've never heard of Audi glass doing that.

this reminded me of this happening once to a ford Capri the guy went into a shop and left his kids in the car with the radio on ( big speakers all over ) the kids turned the radio full blast and popped all the windows lucky the kids didn't get their ears damaged but I bet they don't do that again and the guy was in tears when he came back and I was on the floor of my car in total laughter and my gut ached it was funny but serious
