The diode mod is for 2000+ cars that have the map sensor. If you have a DBC, then you can not do the diode mod. What you can do is add a MBC to the mix. Keep in mind that you can not push as many PSI as someone with a diode mod, and especially not as much as someone with a chip. You can go up to about 14psi. Anything after that you will go into limp mode that that is no bueno... Keep in mind that having a boost gauge is just smart when modifying anything like boost pressure. You may set your MBC at 14psi but a boost spike over that will set you into limp. Just save your money and get a good chip...you will thank yourself in the end. Cincytt did an awesome write up for installing a MBC. There are a couple routes you can go in order to hook it up...all are effective but it comes down to personal preference and how much you feel like doing. If you are going to up your boost, get a new Diverter valve so it don't fail on you in the future. So here you go
1. Boost Gauge
2. Diverter Valve
3. A/F wideband
4. Vag-Com
5. Exhaust
6. Chip

Seems like thats a good bit for now as far as mild performance mods. Going BT is a whole nother ball game. Enjoy your newly found power out of these mods. FYI most of these questions are answered somewhere on the forums. Check the search tool. Good luck brother!

Hey Cincy, now that it is a few years after the mod, how has it held up??? I would also like to know if you could send me the pics directly since they do not want to show up on my puter.

Amen to that!

@cincyTT use a real web server next time contact me, if you'd like, and I'll let you have 10gb of mine so you can host your stuff properly

Too bad your work can't be displayed correctly as I know you have put many hours (months and years rather) into this forum.

you are asking for a pic about connecting 2 wires with a part that has 2 leads.

I am curious to see the pics, and I want to know how the mod has held up over time, or any problems encountered after the mods

with a mbc, that is totally operator dependent, in combination with the robustness of the mechanicals.

I ran the diode on my car for about 4 years without a problem, first for the PES GT28r in 2001.

The diode gets attached to the out going signal wire and the other end gets connected to the black ground wire, both wires coming from the MAP sensor plug.

This mod is best used along with a EBC that has an over boost warning safety. If used with a MBC dont blame anyone but your self if your motor blows up and you have to fork out $4k for a new one.
