I am sure that there have been a few posts about parking systems before so sorry for any duplication.

I have a 2009 A4 1.8fsi with a factory fitted front and rear parking system (the version with a 'radar' display on the dash but no camera).

Today I switched on the car the system had a loud continuous tone (without being close to any objects) when reverse was selected and the screen did not change from the radio screen (i.e. the parking radar screen did not appear). The tone could only be switched off via the manual override button. I'm pretty sure the car beeped when I first switched it on too (prior to selecting reverse).

It has cleared itself now and works OK but I was just wodering if the continuous tone and loss of display are typical of a system fault (i.e. the system did not activate properly when reverse was selected due to a faulty sensor, lose connection etc)?
