I live in a area that gets pretty cold during the winter and I am wondering if the cold will affect the subs in any way or if it'll damage them.

 

Never hurt mine in all the years that I've had a system in any car I've had. I'm in upstate NY (if you didn't guess by my screenname) and mine have survived from 100 degrees in the summer to -30 in the winter. No worries.

 

yes it does, temperature needs to always be considered.

subs move. boom boom....

needs to be warmed up before you bump them

its rare and it occurs more often with low quality subs but you can seriously F**K your subs up if you dont let them warm up properly

good way is to play them starting 20% and going up another 20% every song

song 1: at 20%
song 2: 40%
song 3: 60%
etc.

 

I someone agree with the last post in warming them up... I've been in car audio for some time now and all it really takes is a good minute for them to be ready to BLAST!! Cold weather is actually going to help you out a bit too. Think of your AMP as an INTERCOOLER.... The more heat soaked it is... the less performance you'll get out of it.
