2001 audi tt 180hp epc, esp lights then it shuts off.... p1127
Hello, my issue is ill be driving my car and randomly (doesn't matter if its hard acceleration or just coasting) my car will die with the EPC and ESP lights turning on, my car starts right up if it turn it off then on. My car seems to be boosting too much as well, hence the p1127 code i believe. Has any one else had this issue and/or know the solution?
I had read another forum and someone had said their ECU was failing. could this be it?

Try this trouble shooting trick. Disconnect the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. It's usually located in the Air Filter box on most Audi's. If the problem goes away. The MAF sensor is the problem. The ECU can run the engine without the MAF pretty well. If the MAF is lying (sending faulty air flow data) it can cause the ECU to do stupid things. Kind of like your girlfriend lying to you. LOL Give it shot.

I think you've found it. It could be dirty and you can try to clean it before plunking down $200 for a new one. At least it's an easy swap.
The indicator lights on the dash will not go off until you get the MAF working by cleaning it or replacing it. But at least it won't shut down on you.

The ESP and Traction Control Lights will come on along with the Check Engine Light if the MAF is causing issues with the ECU. Until you get the MAF working (or replaced) those lights will stay on. You may have to clear the codes on the ECU to get the Check Engine Light to go off though.
