Default A6 2.7T bad motor, common?

what is common in 2.7t motors? 2001. Do the timing belts snap like other motors? Spun a rod bearing?

What are you talking about common problems? The TB are strong, & should not brake if they are replaced @ the correct miles.
Never known anyone to spin a bearing on the 2.7, more like spun a turbo bearing.

Weak parts, are boost leaks, mostly from the TBB & DV's. Other problems are random sensors going out.

supposedly this guy said he took it to a dealer after it just quit on him on the road. the dealer, mind you, never took the pan or anything off, and immediately said his motor was bad. ive done a lot of blown 1.8s, 2.0s, and diesels on vws, and the price on this is so good im going to drive 6 hours to buy it. the guy said it just died. lol i have a feeling im going to get lucky. for some reason the audi mechanic said connecting rod. but yet never pulled a thing off.

If nothing was taken off, or looked then who the Hell knows what's wrong with it.

I would check the intake track for lots of oil, * see if the lower IC pipes are full of oil, or turbo parts (little destroyed things).

It also would not hurt to pull all the plugs & see how they look. If the engine is on a stand, you should try to turn it over & see if moves smoothly.

But just "died" can be a ECU problem, or a broken TB, & you can't tell with out taking the front of the motor apart.

it is all in the car, from the day it died. the owner had a tb installed a couple thousand miles before, so it was a new timing belt. and i dont know where they got connecting rod if you said they dont spin rod bearings. maybe the hose on back of throttle body just blew off? lol never know, people aren't very car inclined...
