Thanks guys for all your comments, as i said its still under warranty from when i bought it so its going into the Audi garage tomorrow to be fixed. I just wanted to have a better understanding of the problems take make sure they had fixed all the issues when i collected it. @ 02A6BEAU, thanks for the picture I was going to replace it myself but with the other issues it just going into the garage. Which I should have done ages ago seeming as it wouldn't cost me anything!

Hopefully it'll al get sorted.

Thanks for your help!

Ok so it went into the garage today. They did a reading on the clever box and it turned out the following are issues that need to be fixed:-

The cam chain tensioner is lose and worn, so that needs replacing, could be the cause of the duck noise!

Smoky fumes when left on idle for a while then accelerated, could be fuel mixing with oil! Slight blue smoke!

They want to replace the chain tensioner, do a oil pressure test, change the oil filter and oil, and then take it from there! That's going to cost £700+

Could be in the region of £1000+ to get all the problems sorted if it needs more work after!
Really hoping the garage just says yes to doing the work so I haven't got to start kicking up a fuss to get it done. I asked about the DV and he laughed saying that was the least of my worries right now! All in all not looking great!

So, I am guessing that the "duck" noise is occuring when you are going from a "no-throttle" condition to "on-throttle". That is indicative of a bad timing chain tensioner. As the tensioner/variable timing changes position, the chain slaps against the head/valve cover casting causing the "duck-like" noise. When cold, is the noise less noticable, but becomes more prominent when warm? When they replaced the tensioner, did they also replace the chain?

That's spot on, fine when cold worst when at operating temp and then starts to misfire. As of yet nothing has been done as I'm in dispute with the dealer about getting them to pay for it. I beleive they are only going to replace the tensioner. Then do a oil pressure test oil and oil filter change to see if it's still smokey.

Their thoughts on the oil pressure test? Do they suspect this to be a sludge build up maintanence/neglect issue? If they suspect a low oil pressure issue, the dealer should address that prior to replacing the tensioner.
