I am a new owner of a 2004 TT 1.8T. A couple nights ago my brake lights started to stay on all the time, even when the car is turned off. I tried manually moving the brake pedal, I turned it off, pumped the brakes and nothing seemed to get them to turn off until I disconnected the battery. The next morning I reconnected the battery and the brakes lights did not come on so I left the car in the garage with the battery connected and when I got home the battery was dead. Any suggestions?

 

There's a brake light switch under the dash that goes bad all the time. The button on it get pushed by the brake pedal arm when you push on the brakes. It was like $20 from the dealer and even comes with instructions. This sounds like your problem.
