Cold start issues
Just picked up an 04 A4 1.8t Quattro.
When I try starting it, it cranks but won't hold idle. After doing this a few times, it'll start but if you barely touch the throttle it'll die. Once it warms up it runs prefect. It only does this if it sits up 5 or 6 hours or more. There's no CEL either.
Just replaced spark plugs because they were soaked in oil. Replaced the valve cover gasket as well. The previous owner put a cone filter on it and added a breather filter to the hose that goes down to the secondary air pump.
Someone mentioned it might be the MAF. Disconnected it and tried starting it. No difference.
The was also a metal tube that came from somewhere under the turbo manifold. It has a 90* plastic connector than another metal tube that runs back to the EGR. that 90* plastic piece was completely broken. Replaced that today but still no difference.
Any other ideas?
