I've heard from a questionable source that you can take the heads off of a 2.7 and put them on a 2.8 and not only would work but it would improve performance. Is this true? The 2.8 is a 30v.

 

Can help ya there but the improvement in performance would probably not be worth the cost and effort. I mean, unless you're racing for big dollars, how much more performance do you need on the street?

 

I'm not really worried about the performance. Just if it was compatible. I have an avant 2.8 that needs heads and a 2.7 that the tranny is going out in. So pretty much looking to consolidate. The avant is in better shape with nearly half the miles so I'm inclined to focus on fixing that one.

 

Wish I could say for sure. I'd check the part numbers on the head assembly and compare them. They very well could be the same. Not sure if they would have made changes in the lift and duration on the cams so that might be different too.

 

I knowish that they are not the same. I've read a lot of threads about guys putting 2.8 heads on 2.7s but not the other way around. They do fit. As far as I have read on other forums. But I read a lot of somewhat conflicting things regarding the details surrounding it all. I guess I'll try it and see what happens. At this point I don't have much to lose,
