My '05 A4 1.8T (93K miles) started making a weird sound after starting and then at idle a few months ago. My husband took the car in and had it scanned. No codes came up. He (my husband) said he thought it was an exhaust leak but the sound is clearly coming from under the hood. The mechanic said it's a hose and said he ordered the part but that was 2 months ago.

I really don't have the money to take it to Audi to have them look at it. Last time I did that, they said they couldn't get the scan tool to work because I had an aftermarket stereo/nav put in.

I've tried searching but can't seem to find anything that describes what it sounds like. I'm going to try to get a sound clip, if I can figure out how to put it in a post.
