Hi,

I bought an Audi A6 2002 3.0 Quattro in March of this year. When I bought the car from the dealer, I was not given information about the next oil change / service etc..
I would really appreciate if someone could give me info regarding the recommended oil change (eg. every 5000 miles or every 6 months etc..).

Oil is changed every 10K mi. with synthetic oil.

It is recommended that you check or do change oil every 5000 miles. Just be careful about those aftermarket oil additives that many are inclined to use.

It is 10k uder normal driving conditions only if using fully synthetic oil such as mobil 1 and a 10k approved oil filter wich is not the standard oem filter. If you are an aggresive driver I would up the intervals to 5k with mobil 1. I tend to get 180,000 to 240,000 miles out of my cars with this method. The oil change service message is set on a 3k oil change unless it has been changed via obc/computer to a different interval some are at 5k mi or 7.5k (you need to watch it the fist time). If you need to reset it in-between changes the directions are in the stadard manual and are very easy to follow.

 

Mine comes on around 8.2K mi. The dealer used mineral ,dyno, oil for the first 50K mi.
I have 110K mi. now with the engine running fine. I've been using Mobil 1 0W-40 since 70K mi.

 

Will your check engine light come on if you need an oil change?

 

your check engine light should not come on if you need an oil change! The trip counter will indicate oil change when you start the car for several seconds or until you shift the car.
