Need your thoughts on how to get Audi to cover the following issue...

My vent control wheel is depressed in such that it does not turn (see attached image as an example). I have no idea on how this happened. I tried pushing in my front passenger wheel and it is really hard to do so I suspect a part failure.

Dealer says that it isn't covered because it is due to an outside influence; they made this assumption without even investigating (eg opening the unit) the root cause. I have countered by saying that it is due to a part failure which of course is now a game of your opinion vs my opinion. Audi Customer Relations says to take it to another dealer for a second opinion; they weren't really any help because they claim they aren't technically trained to understand the issue.

Vehicle is still under warranty (18000 miles; 2 years young).
