whining noise when AC shuts off.
Hi. I've posted about this issue in the TT section before, but since most audis share a lot of parts, i thought about posting it here too, so meybe someone can help me.

My car does this every time i shut off the AC. doesn't matter if the engine is still running or not.
The dealer said it was low Freon, refilled it, but big surprise
, it's not gone.
My car is a 2002 TT coupe with ~13000 miles on it.
It had been sitting still for a while before i bought it, i got it in Florida, april 2007.
I know another TT owner has had this happening, but he seems to be not frequenting this forum anymore, so I don't know if the issue ever got resolved.
If i had to take a guess at it, i'd blame the compressor (bearing).
any ideas?
Thanks,
Josh

is it more like hissing noise? because it could be a leak in the lines if its making a noise after the engine is off. Are you sure your not mistaking this noise for the auxillary radiator fan. Because this stays on for abit after youshut off the engine,to cool itdown after long trips, and the other fancan randomly come on when your driving to cool your engine or in idle too. I'm not doubting your car knowledge just wonderin if thats the case.
its definately not the turbo, because why would the turbo be affected when the ac shuts off?
a mechanic i know who has a tt as well says it might very well be the pressure equalize valve in the AC that went bad.

How often do you hear this whining noise? I listened to your video clip, I had the same problem too, but it had only happend because I did not let the car idle and cool off after a long trip or so; and when i parked on a slope, the sound is louder ?weird?. Try letting your car idle for 5mins after every trip, see if there are changes.[&:]
