Default Cold Air Intake Basic Questions

Thinkin about putting a cold air intake in my 2000 a4 1.8t. Just wonderin how much it will increase performance, how hard it would be to install myself, and which of the two intakes below would be of higher quality/value? Just startin to get into cars tryin to learn as much as i can so explanations would be appreciated. Thanks.

dont bother with the first one, if you want to splash the cash then go for the carbon fibre intake, but a panal filter and some decent heat reflective shielding on the box would be fine
