Default I'm new to Audi, and already have a question!

I have a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro. It has 50k miles and runs great, except I am hearing a rattle from the exhaust. I stopped by a muffler shop and the guy suggested it was the catylitic converters. I was told that the insides are probably worn out and the rattle is pieces of the batt inside.I have looked into it, and seen that there is a manufacturers 80k mile warranty on cats. Does anyone know anything more about this, or have a suggestion of what else it could be? Are there any upgrades and simpler solutions than just replacing the OEM cats?

the dealership will squaize all they can before they even acknoledge that waranty.
I had same problem with my pre cat on my mazda626.

Its easier to put universal high flow cats, and skip all the frastration.
or as I did just took it out, and with a screw driver took all the cat internal out, and put it back.

the ratle can be diferent thing, as I have a peace of exaust touches the side of the car and makes that kinda ratle.
can be also muflers

Default cat rattle problem

What is a test tube? I took it to my mechanic, and I have it in writing that he suggests it is a cat issue, hopefully that will help. Anyone have any tips on how to scrape the cats, or replace them?

Default RE: cat rattle problem

He is referring to a test pipe. It is an open pipe that replaces the Cat allowing for freer airflow and thus an increase in power. However, this is technically illegal to do for any car that is to be driven on public roads.
