B5 S4 leaking water down A and B pillars on drivers side
Hello everybody. I'm having a problem with water leaking into my car and based on everything I could find about it, it would seem that my sunroof drains are clogged. Unfortunately, this isn't the case for me because the drains are not clogged.
I had it at the shop and we had the headliner out and sunroof apart to see if maybe they were torn somewhere causing water to come down the A pillar. We disconnected the drains on the front at back and blew into them to see if the air comes out freely and easily. It does, and if you plug the other end it is completely sealed so there doesn't seem to be any problems with the drains.
When we poured water in the little channel on the sides it started seeping through some places so we sealed it and were happy to believe that we fixed the problem, but then I went to the car wash and water came pouring in by the dead pedal and seeped into the back by the B pillar just as it did before.
It seems like water is just overflowing the channels leading to the drains, but we can't really figure out why or how to fix this at the moment.
We also know that it isn't an issue with the firewall drains because it happens when a lot of water is poured onto the sunroof.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

there is a tiny hole in the battery tray. i think its under the battery itself. it gets clogged very easily and then causes the tray to fill with water. On the driver side of the tray there is a plug on the wall that the line for the hood release goes through. check to see if that has come off or been pushed through. This happened to me and my footwell flooded when the tray behind the firewall filled due to the clogged drain.
Had this happen with my old a6 and after many trips to the dealership it ended up being a rubber hose that ran from the drains in the sunroof had deteriorated and was leaking water in the same areas you describe...dealer was stumped for a while too and ended up not charging me anything for all the visits...ended up being a recall too if I'm remembering correct
