yea i guess i'm gunna buy a boost gauge and give it a shot... although from what jetspeed said, i guess i could try the rev limiter thing... I dunno i'm always into babying my car how bad is it to redline the car never really brought it that high usually shift at like 5500 if im opening it up. I guess I don't know to much on that subject but does it put more wear on the motor etc from bouncing it off the rev limiter?

Im pretty sure theres a way to use vag to find out of your chipped. I bought the software and cable, bought a PC laptop specifically to use with it, but im not a pro yet iv just pulled codes a couple times.

stock rev limiter is 6800 RPM and most chips increase it to 7400 rpm, its in place so that you DO NOT hurt anything. so it stops you before you can do damage. Bringing it up to 7000 rpm's shouldnt have any negative effects as long as you dont hold it on the revlimiter forever.

When i autocross i launch hard, then shift into second and just leave it there till i finish my run. Sometimes im at 4000 rpm's in a turn and sometimes theres a fast section were i make it all the way to the top of the gear. But this is like 50-60 seconds of racing at a time...

I know that APR keeps records of all their chips by vin numbers. When I had more programs added to mine GMP had to contact APR with my vin so they could add to the chip. You could call some of the major companies and see if they have a record for your vin #.

dude.. get a cheap 25 dollar boost gauge.. there is plenty of rubber grommets close to the ecu area.. remove that long black panel that covers the ecu, battery and brake master cylinder/booster and find a grommet that you can poke through.. run the boost line.. find it under your dash.. hook the other end to some sort of manifold vacuum line.. (i used the fuel pressure regulator line) and then simply check for boost. also you can turn your key on.. make sure the cruise is on.. and hold down the cruise set button.. if a few seconds go by and the CEL starts blinking then you have the APR adjustable tune.. thats just to check for one of the many tunes out there.. besides a boost gauge im not sure about checking for the others..

I would only buy a boost gauge if you are going to mount it and keep it. If you buy it online, it may take a week or so to arrive and an hour or so to install. Or like I said before, if you have a vagcom you can measure the boost - this will cost you nothing and is very easy to do.
