I have an 01.5 S4 with 93K. I had the timing belt done recently by the dealer, but I am now hearing a tapping noise at idle. The dealer took note of it, but it is starting to become annoying. Anyone know what could be casusing it? Is it a valve tapping? Any suggestions would be appreciated

is it coming from the top of the block or outside the motor...if its coming from inside your motor it could be your valves...if its comming outside of your motor it might be your belt tensonor...grab a screwdriver put it to your ear..then place the screwdriver to the motor and try to find out were its comming from...............

 

the problem with this engine is the timing set up ( fit a new belt/water pump/tentioner and rolers ) is good but dosnt solve the issue of the timing chain which links both cams and oil pressure related, im sure this should be a recall issue because it conflicts with timing belt change intervals so im checking it out

 

It is coming from inside the motor. The dealer is looking at it again in a few days since they did the work
