Default Modified B5 or (near) stock B6?

I am planning to get a S4 soon, my thinking was a 2004 or 2005 model, as the used prices are now in my range. But it seems like there is not much to me done for performance upgrades, although the stock performance is pretty good it seemd like it is about as good as it will be able to get.

So I started thinking about a 2001 or 2002 model, and modding it. Looks like the engine upgrades for RS4 turbos, IC, etc would add about $10K to the purchase price.

My question, is it worth it to mod the B5? How good is the resulting driveability if the engine is modded to a 400HP level? I already own one modded car that is a bit temperamental, so I don't need 2...

Thanks.

Mine has had over 400hp for more than 50k miles with abuse. If done properly it is very reliable.

exactly. A K04 turbo upgrade wont change ur reliabilty. If u buy one of those kits and have it doen professionally (or u are able to do it) u will be fine. U may go thru a clutch faster and may need to upgrade that but it is relaible. Now im not sure about how fun it would be as a daily driver it may be fine im not sure never driven a stage 3 s4. There are a few companys that make this car sold this way (MTM has a few) so it should be fine with that.

I am a Real Estate agent here in California and I take my clients in it. If that says enough about it's daily driveability.

LOL. Nope, I always keep it out of boost when they are in the car. That would be classic though if I just jumped on it though.
