so next big projects coming up...
this spring, im going to be pullin the engine/tranny again. Why...well i am planning a tranny rebuild, make it much stronger, with a closer gear ratio...aimed at useable performance versus going 170mph, since we cant do that. I have also ordered the fueling for my stage 3-, which i will not install until spring when snow is gone (first its worthless in snow, and too damn cold to be in the garage that long).
Any recomendations on a TC, not sure what stall speed i want, or if there are some out there that will take the high heat the tranny is going to seeing at times. I dont go to the the strip ever, or drag at all for that matter, im more a fast into and out of corners at the local track. I want it to be easy to drive daily, and still rediculously quick from any speed.

http://2bennett.com/sells a bulletproof auto tranny that I thought about if I bought an auto, but I bought a manual, perhaps the next B5 will be an auto, and I'll order the tranny from 2bennett.
Level10 is another company that I have heard people talking about.
I'm not sure what kind of track racing your thinking but, changing gears ratios has value, but unless your tuning your car to perform the best at 1/4 mile or a specific track where you know corner speeds, RPMs, and traction levels, and your trying to hit a certain objective, changing the gear ratios may not do anything for you other than burn money and bragging rights. One key thing to remember is, you don't want to spend more time switching gears than putting power to the ground. For example, this is why motors with wide/level power/torque bands are good for track racing, leaving the car in third gear and pulling constantly without gear shifting.

you can't change the gear ratio in the trans unless you have a trans program. Other wise you will get a grear mismatch code. (I saw this when we tried to put a 2.8 trans in my friends S4) Also as far as picking a Tq converter. Take the cruising RPM you are normally at and subtract 200 RPM. This is best for all around performance and Evey day driving
