Default tiptronic question

ok so leme first off by saying i knwo really nothign about tiptronic/automatics. i just have a quick question looking around at classifieds i see alot of auto s4's advertised as "f1 style shifting" or "paddle shifting" is this tru paddle shifting u would find in f1 cars or is it just like the up down button on the steering wheel ?
i searched but could not find a high res pic of a steering wheel with this feature
thanks alot.

secondly anyone with auto s4s how are they to drive compared to a stick is the shifting fast like a manual i really would rather have a manual but the autos are soo much cheaper and easier to find

thanks guys

Please proofread & your post, I had to read it 3x to find out what you are asking.

The B5 has up & down buttons, but you can put in the paddles. Later cars have the paddles.

No it is NOT F1 shifting, come on, the new DSG is closer to the F1 style, but the S4 is still a automatic trans & not a electronic manual like the "f1" style.
It shifts fast, just as fast as a good manual, but if you get a TIP chip, it will shift much faster then a manual.

They drive fine, there is a little more lag, & you can't really launch the car, but it's still fast, & AWESOME in traffic!

Pic of my RS6 wheel with paddles.

It was basically a bolt in, but I need to to buy a couple of connectors for the airbag & paddles.

First off I own a 6sp and I love it . I drove at least 25 s4's b4 I found the one I wanted and I have to say the Tip's out the box are a little faster but with the tranny chip they're real fast. Secondly I have to drive a 6 because I tend to doze off when I drive automatics too boring. I love being able to shift up and down while rippin the clutch!! I like the AUTOS power out the box but if your quick enough a 6sp can do the jobjust as well!!
