The shifter linkage was broken, I got it to pop up and down a couple times and now she shifts like butter. Putting in the B&M Short Shifter tommarow to replace the broken factory one. Very happy I can save the $2200 on the rebuild and put it towards the next toy (02 M3 Laguna Blue).

Hey guys im bringing back this post real quick because I seem to have a similar issue and just want to get an idea as to what you guys think..

soo my stock s4 clutch gave out the other day, I went to awe tuning and picked up an rs4 clutch and an awe lightweight flywheel. i was supposed to pick it up yesterday but they ran into a problem with transmission making a noise and difficulty going into reverse, needless to say they called me today and said my car was fixed. The noise was gone but I had a problem immediately getting into reverse, the car is real smooth except now I can't even get into reverse...I called them back and they told me to drop it off tomorrow to get it looked at again.

what do you guys think?

keep in mind that prior to droppping of my car i had no issue with gears, my clutch was slipping so i upgraded.

-thanks, derek

See mine wasn't making a noise just no reverse. If you pull the boot up and look at the shifter itself, there is a small tab on the left side at the bottom of the shifter that acts at the reverse detent, mine had a plastic tab that held it in place. It fell off and kept me from pushing the shifter over into reverse.
