what should my timeslip read?
im a bit confused here.... i have read that stock s4 times are somwhere in the low 14's even seen high 13's, my stock time was a 16.065, after chipping/catback around a 15.4, this doesn't seem correct, i get a lot of people wanting to race but, with such a high time i usually just turn down the offer. well fellow b5ers please let me know your timeslips... thanks!
no offense taken to the previous comment, but for one its a strait line, and two my reaction time is less than a tenth of a second, also in a tip all you can really do is hold the pedal to the floor after the start... any early shift would definetly murder your time.
it has alot to do with the driver as does any race of any type. Those good times u see will ALWAYS be in a manual tranny so trip is gonna be slower. I wonder if a tip and a manual will a normal driver equal around teh same time?
Jestnomen is correct. Also, the main thing to consider is 60' time. That is probably the most important number on your time slip. Every gain of .1 in 60' equals at least .2 on the big end. If you totally bone your launch, just let out of it and drive down the rest of the track normally, there's no way to turn it into a good run and you'll save wear and tear on the car. Don't worry about your reaction time, it has absolutely nothing to do with your 1/4 mile time. One you start getting those 60' times down and launching the car correctly, then you can worry about leaving the tree at the right time.
