Hello,

I have a 2005.5 B7 S4 with 84K miles, and the past couple of months, there has been a loud clicking/knocking sound coming from the engine.

The Audi mechanic that I used to go to in the Northern VA area (Funktion Auto) appears to gone out of business.

Therefore, I took my car to another mechanic I really trust (has done work on my car as well as our other extended family cars from Mercedes, Land Rover, etc.), and he is saying that, in his professional opinion, I need a new engine as it's not worth opening it up, taking it apart to find/fix the issue.

So, I had a couple of questions:

1) Any ideas on what the issue can be? I've looked online, and seen things like oil filter, cam tensioner, to something that requires engine replacement.

2) Does anyone know any reputable Audi specialists in the Northern VA (preferably in the Fairfax VA area) I can take my car to for a 2nd opinion?

Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
