they've be very helpful with me, but they probably won't be very helpful if you buy cloned chinese cables...

after all, if you designed something new and spent 10000 hours on it and your neighbor just copied your work and is stealing all your sales.... would you be helpful ?!?

Glad to hear that, I've not had personal experience beyond reading through some of the FAQ and my intent was a litte sarcastic with my previous comment. I would like to purchase the software in the future though I'm not sure it would be worth buying a PC to run it at this stage. It doesn't look like the plan to be compatable with Mac in the future either from how the site reads.

just seen your post. im using windows 7 also. ill look tonight when i get home from work which driver i used. I know at first it did take me a while to get the drivers to work but now that it is im all set (as much as possible using the cheap cable). I plan on buying a legit copy/dongle when i upgrade my laptop, hopefully in the next month or so...

Go to Device Manager and choose a COM port for your cable, match it up to the correct COM port in VCDS and you're good to go, was my only issue running windows 7 64 bit and an ebay cable

I guess i got it working, but it sure doesn't do much... when i hit auto scan, it just doesnt come up with anything. When i choose individual modules it says could not connect to controller for most all of them.

i think instruments works, and one other, but engine, auto trans, abs, airbags all don't work, which is what i need it for.

can the free software do a Throttle body alignment? my A4 needs one done, but I don't want to spend a ton at the dealer, and I like doing things my self.
