Is Vagcom essential for auto trans flush?

I would soooooooo pay someone $200 to do it. Especially if it included the oil. I didn't have a Vagcom when I did mine. I found some instructions that told me to keep the engine running for 15 minutes or so, while continuously pumping tranny fluid into the fill hole....then after 15 minutes, have someone in the car go through each gear, and then wait another 10-15 minutes...still pumping fluid in the entire time. (obviously, fluid is also running back out while you pump it in...the goal is to keep the level the same the entire time.)

Even after doing that, I still didn't have enough fluid in it, and had to have it topped off by an audi tech.

$200 is a bargain.

Yeah pay to get it done! I bought my fluid from ECS Tunning and the Safety Plug tool and the 17 MM socket head and the new o rings and it turned out to be 160 BEFORE i had to buy a fluid pump that ended up leaking out about half a liter of fluid anyway! and ure ride HAS to be level the entire time, Its a lot of work just take it in!
