Default vagcom k1 : short to ground problem

So my car was in an accident and some controllers broke. I needed to vag my car and see the cel's. When plugging my vag com in I was getting an error "No response from controller".

This happened even in auto scan and couldnt seem to plug any codes. I thought i was toast. Someone had connected the postive and negative ends of some jumper wires on reverse tottaly shorting out the car.

I thought my ECU or something was fired, as this is really bad. In conjuction with my broken vagcom i thought i was lost. So i started reading and found that the Radio is the first thing to disconnect when you get a k1 : short to ground when testing to see if your vag com acutally works.

I unpluged the radio and like magic my vagcom works again and i was able to diganose my car. I checked the fuse on the back of radio, fine. Then i checked the other fuse on the fuse panel #42 to be exact. Not blown either. My radio doesnt turn on at all, it is just dead. a dead radio really sucks as all i listen to now is my DV sound and the revs.

How do i fix this problem ... Do i need a new radio. It is unpluged now, but how do i test and make my radio work. Thanks in advance,

TT radios suck, they always break. 99% chance you need a new radio.

I had a problem just like this when I lost my "control module for central locking" Do you have a roadster or a coupe? Is anything else not work inside the car as in the interior lights, or door locks?

The stock ones aren't that expensive (made by panasonic) I would say its less than $250 from the dealer for a re-manned unit.
