Default Warm Weather Package Failure

I have a loaded, 01 AR w 101k. Recently, I noticed the interior was unsuaully warm when parked in a sunny lot for several hours. The AR is equipped w/ the warm weather package, which means the sunroof is actually a solar panel that is supposed to run the interior fans to keep the interior cool. I cannot figure out why it is no longer keeping the interior cool. All the windows and sunroof are closed securely. Does anyone have any suggestions before the dealer charges me $200 for an analysis?

I've never heard of the warm weather package. No idea such an option existed.

Incremental, if memory serves me right (and it rarely does), it wasn't a whole package, but just the solar sunroof that powers small fans that remove hot air from the cabin.

That said, LCJA, I just dont see how it could work with all the windows closed...maybe the sunroof has to be tilted open or something. I'm not there, I don't have your car, and so I am by definition ignorant of your situation, but I just feel that there has to be a way out for the hot air (other than mine).

Good luck,

john

Never heard of this option either on any car....doesnt seem like it'd be efficient at all. Sounds like a bit overkill as an option on a luxury car

I found the option via online search and the reviews said it actually works pretty well at keeping the car cool. I agree that its a bit of an overkill. I tried to post links a while back, but the forum was messed up, so I gave up after 3 or 4 attempts.

It shouldn't be an issue with windows closed/open. The blower should work when the sunroof is closed or in the raised vent position. Audi recommends making sure the dash vents are open for optimum venting.

I'm no expert on solar panels, but it seems this would be a degenerative problem. I wouldn't think all of the solar cells would give up at the same time. If it was me, I would see if there was a fuse or relay that controls this function....but who knows.

An innovative and efficient feature...
