Default Optimum Shift Point for 2.0T

Hi,

a friend of mine has a 2006 A3 2.0T 6 speed manual.
and asked if i could find out what is the optimum rpm to shift at in each gear for fastest acceleration.

Thank you in advance

I'm pretty sure it's a couple hundred RPM before red-line. The real trick is rev'ing just enough to get a good jump but not letting the wheels slip.

i have a A3 2.0T MT, chipped and CAI, today, i was at the red light with my friend EVOIC, i didn't even bring up my rpms, i gunned the gas and i slipped for 3 seconds straight. now imagine if i brought up my rpms, i'll be slipping even more. next time, i'll try to just gas it half way just enough to get traction, then i'll floor it.

i'm gonna start practicing my launches tomorrow.

nam, did you have esp on or off? just curious...if you can feather the throttle correctly, off *should* be faster, but on is quite idiot proof. floor it in first with esp off and you will bounce off redline faster then you can blink.

i had my esp off, and it slipped like crazy,

today, i tried to punch it with the esp ON and it did the justice.......

but i thought with the esp off, i would grip a lil faster, or maybe i just accidently punched the gas too fast before i let go of the clutch, maybe that's why.

if you are chipped, you dont have a prayer of getting grip in 1st at full throttle, no matter what. I usually go 50-60% in first gear, shift early at like 5k, land second around 3000, after releaseing the clutch, just floor it and you'll take off quick. 2nd pulls harder then first once you are chipped....but you knew that right?

these tires are good enough for me, i'm runing them out while saving up enough $$$ for new wheels and tires.
