I already ordered the ordered the key but didn't know if it would come with the correct FCC ID. Any idea? They used the VIN to order it.

They used the vin to order the key so it is cut properly. The remotes are usally a stocked item thou. Theyre two seperate parts. So its possible the key fits and the remote is the wrong part.

See, that is where the question arose. I was told that because mine is a 99.5' that it has an immobiliser. I really can't get a straight answer from anyone on it. I am going to go out and try it this afternoon. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks for your help.

Where did you get that info from? I have a 2000 and I am pretty sure it doesn't have an immobilizer, but I have known to be wrong.

When I called the Audi dealer in Kalamazoo the parts guy there said that it had an immobiliser. So that put the thought in my head but then no one could confirm it in the service department. They said I get the key turn the ignition and it either does or doesn't. It might just have been that the parts guy didn't know what he was talking about, but then again no one else seemed to either. I have received more information from this site that any of the dealers I have talked to. I have contacted four dealers and get the same response from service. That I won't know until I try to start it.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I have been going around with this for over a month and as much as I am on the computer I just now decided to ask the people who would really know. You guys are the best. I will let you know how it turns out. I am sure I will have some more questions that I will need help with. Thanks again.

It's all good in the neighborhood. Sat for almost two months at the ex's parents house with no keys. Just did the ****** and grab and finally have my car back. Worked like a charm thanks for everyone's help. Too bad it looks like she lived in the f@#%in thing. Looks like its time for a head to tail detail. Now I just have to program the remote for the locks.
