BUYING my 1st A4 - I need help
Hello,
I'm interested in buying an Audi A4. I have been driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima. I drove the maxima for over 200,000 miles. Did not have any engine problems. But the car is very old, I have gotten in a few accidents and the car overall could use a lot of repair work. I could easily spend over 2000$ fixing (seats, 4 new tires, entire exhaust system, filters, bumper, paint, hood etc) lol. Anyways, the maxima has been good to me and I had a good time with it. But now, I want to buy a new car. I always admired a4's when I saw them on the road and had a thing for them.
I recently started doing research on an A4 because I want to buy one. I have been searching for cars that have less than 100,000 miles. I noticed that audi from year 1998-2001 one, I can find an a4 at the price of between 4900-6000. I was pretty confused as to why the 98' model is priced as the same price as a 2001 model with similar mileage. I did some more research and found out that from 2000-2002 audi has a lot of problems that are engine related.
Even knowing that, I want to get a 2001 a4 for some reason. I have been searching for the cars and I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger but I am scared as heck. I do not want to buy a car and within the first year have to do a major repair. I'm a student in college and I would be bummed out if I the engine fails in like a year. My maxima was a fighter, And I'm hoping to find a a4 that runs more than 200k miles as well.
Any thoughts? Should I pass on these 2001 model a4s. Are they priced so low because they are prone to having major problems. etc...?
