Engine Fault Codes - Bad Ground/Short
I have a 99 A4 Quattro 2.8L. Here is the list of fault codes:
P1522 - Intake Camshaft Contr. Bank 2 Malfunction
P1519 - " " Bank 1 Malfunction
P1472 - EVAP Emission Conr. LDP Circ Short to Ground
P1435 - Sec. Air Inj. Sys. Pump Relay Circ Short to Ground
P1425 - Tank Vent Valve Short to Ground
P1421 - Sec Air Inj Valve Circ Short to Ground
P1199 - O2 Sensor Heater Circ Bank 2 - Sensor 2 Electrical Malfunction
P1198 - " " Bank 1 - Sensor 2
P1197 - " " Bank 2 - Sensor 1
P1196 - " " Bank 2 - Sensor 1
P0160 - O2 Sensor Circ Bank 2 - Sensor 2 No Activity Detected
P0154 - " " Bank 2 - Sensor 1 " "
P0140 - " " Bank 1 - Sensor 2 " "
P0134 - " " Bank 1 - Sensor 1 " "
Needless to say I think I have some shorts but I really have no idea where to start with it so any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Since yours is all related to emissions, I'd start with the SAI pump, then the relay. Check the vacuum hose to the SAI pump make sure it's not leaking, pinched or broken. P1421-Then check the kombi valve (power etc) and then there's a relay, it's metal, and if it's bad, it'll throw a bunch of those codes. Check for power at some of the locations. Bank one and two are both sides.
Basically, something that runs all your emissions systems is broken and making the whole system give fault codes......it could just be ONE small issue causing all those codes.
If it were me, I'd start with the vacuum hoses, then the RELAY and see if it was bad, if it is replace it, clear codes and go from there.
If you haven't cleared ALL the codes, do it and go for a short drive. Then see which codes pop up FIRST.....that's generally your start point. Or clear them, start the car with the VAG still attached and SEE which codes come up FIRST.
I'll attach a listing of the grounds on your car...

When you have all the short to ground codes for various components replace the PCM relay in the box under the wiper cowl. There are two identical realys and I always replace them both. The relay control ground side drops out momentarily and causes these codes. I've done these many times over the years. If you look at the wiring diagram you will find that the relay feeds all the components with the faults. Only buy OE relays form Audi.
