Looking into buying a A4...
What's up?
I currently own a Rx-7 with the "infamous" rotary engine. I'm looking into making it a project car and looking for something to drive on a daily basis.
My main concern is gas mileage and reliability. Of course I could go out and pick up a Honda Civic but I want some nice looks to go along with it. I was cruising autotrader trying to find a good car and stumbled upon a good looking A4.
Details: 1999 Audi A4, 1.8T, Quattro, 5 speed, winter package, heated leather, loaded, well maintained with records, 103K miles.
Obviously I need to call and talk with the guy about what has been serviced and actually look at the car but I was hoping you guys could give me some insight into the car.
I will be driving this car on the highway a lot while I commute to work and need decent highway gas mileage.
I will also need this car to be fairly reliable for use as a daily driver. It will most likely stay stock. Would I be better off looking for a 2.8?
I must have a 5-speed.
They want $9,000 for it. It is a private seller.
Help me out ya'll?
Thanks,
Mason

Here is another option that I found but the mileage kinda scared me off...
1996 Audi A4 Quattro, emerald green, gray cloth interior, 179K miles, mechanically perfect, climate control, 5 spd, new tires, one owner, non-smoker, no accidents, EC in and out, $6000 obo

heh, no...check out autotrader.com and your local paper and also go onto your local dealerships websites (if they have a used car lookup option) and youre bound to find a nice buy...took me about 4-5 days before i found the one that suited me
i have a 98.5 2.8 quattro with heated seats ect blah blah blah 5 speed manual for 7000 flat but could have talked him down more but my dad was doing the talking .... it had 120k at the time on it
Price doesn't sound too bad. They might take less. I would get leather or leatherette. Also get a prepurchase inspection done on whatever you get. Get a GIAC chip and you'll improve gas mileage (no lie: 25/31mpg) and performance (when you want it).
