Default Need help buying a USED A4

I'm in the market for a USED A4 Quattro, probably 02-05. Is there any year better than the other? Which engine is better/easier to mod, 1.8T or 3.0? How well does the Quattro do in the snow? I'm not too familiar with Audi's and their history, and any help or advice anyone could give me I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!

To answer all your questions...Get a 03+ 1.8T Quattro. The 1.8 has alot more mods available. Generally avoid first model years, the quirks will be worked out later down the line. Quattro is the **** in the snow, nothings better. Next time try the search

Agree, Quattro is great in the snow. The 1.8 is a much more tunable engine. The 3.0 is great as it is.

Whatever you get, have it checked by a VW/Audi mechanic before you buy. These cars can be expensive to reair.

I second the "expensive to repair" comment from David. You can pretty much say goodbye to the 12.99 oil changes, of course, unless you are doing it yourself. If any work was done on your prospective car at an Audi dealership, the dealership will be able to pull up the history. I just purchased an 2000 A4 1.8T about a month ago with 40,000 miles and it's currently getting checked out by my local dealership. I'm sort to doing this backwards. I really should have taken it to the dealership first and then bought it, but I just couldn't pass up the deal. All in all the cars in great condition.....typical wear and tear that sort of thing... Anyway, you came to the right place to get info on the Audi brand.

Good Luck...

instead of getting it checked out I would go to a dealer. audi has one of the best pre owned warranties around. i work at an audi dealership in sf... the 1.8t responds much better to mods and its a bit cheaper. if you're in nor cal too come check us out. pm me and ill give you my #. if you get an offer post it up and i'll let you know if its good or not

get a 1.8T ! and ummm make sure its 5 speed and in response to irocbrd , even if you do an oil change by yourself , the oil itself adds up to like 20 bucks including oil filter..... ? Oil change places do it for about $25 on long island. But I do it myself cause I just love working on my own car and i think its fun.... makes you appreciate it more.
