there are several reasons why the coolant leaks. it can be a cracked coolant expansion tank. the radiator might cracked,or the coolant flange is also cracked. look where its leaking coolant front of engine, side or the rear

It is leaking coolant from the rear, what are the consequence of an over heating car? People tell me it might be the heads and that after it gets fixed I won't be able to drive it on a long road trip cause it will mess up, is this true?

So it might be the coolant flange, that is easy to replace and not very costly, and do not drive the car when its overheating, your whole engine will be damaged (warped head maybe) and it will be a pain to fix.

Just get a good high powered flashlight and let it warm up a little and lok for where it begins to leak. It sounds like you will not be the one to wrench on it so sooner you bring it to a shop the better. They can pressure test it. It could be something simple as a temp sensor popped out or o-ring not put seated.

You will only warp the head if you let it get super hot and try and drive it or something.
