Steering fluid change
Purchased this 2000 A4 1.8t quattro recently and want to change the steering fluid. I has some Pentosyn 11S, but the can says not to mix it with CHF 7.1. Is there any way to tell what is already in the system? Color difference?
Thanks
Thanks
I would say call your dealer and ask one of the techs. If they don't know off the top of their head, they can surely find out. Does it say why not to mix those two? Just curious.
Your car should have 11s.
The 7.1 is older audi fluid, which is non synthetic. The 11s is for newer audi's and is a synthetic fluid. You should probably not mix the two together. But if it is necessary then go ahead per audi:
From the set of microfiche Audi Service Training bulletins (Oct. 1994)
Nov: 89 Bulletin # 48-89-T07 Hydraulic System Fluid New Type Hydraulic Fluid has been improved as of MY 1990 NEW: Hydraulic Fluid: Part number is Unchanged (G 002 000) This Fluid is more temperature resistant Color: Olive
OLD: Hydraulic Fluid P/N G 002 000 Color: Green
The new hydraulic fluid can be identified by the "red" cap on the container.
NOTE: New and Old fluid can be mixed if necessary
