When my temp sensor went bad my temp gauge read normal. So if your temp gauge reads normal after you put the old one back in and you get the fault code again with noticeable performance decrease id just buy another new one or try to return the old new one.

changed the thermostat/ temp sender sensor/ plenty heat in the cabin/ no overheating/ no loss of coolant I would guess a faulty dash reading or sticking gauge

Do you think is a good idea to vag the car? because the check engine L. went off by itself before I replace the temp. sensor.
Maybe the light went off but the code is there and it's giving fase readings

Yes always get the codes cleared after you fix the problem and CEL is off. This way next time something breaks you wont have old fault codes stored that may confuse you. Always record your fault codes and date them. I keep a notepad doc on my desktop where i record all mine and note what diagnosing steps were taken to fix it or what was tried.
