I have plans to race this summer with my B5 and I wanted to know where to start for weight reduction. I already know that the sound deadening is a major contributor in the weight reduction but after that, other than replacing body pannels with carbon fiber, I'm not sure where to begin. I would like to get the car as light as possible without totaly replacing the dash and door pannels. Thanks.

Mid console can be removed also

Buy "Light Weight" rims... Make sure there 16's or 17's so you don't lose speed.

replace drivers seat with light racing seat... replace hood and trunk with carbon fiber

Akielb has most of it covered, so do all that and what I mentioned and your well on your way....

 

IMHO, you're pissing against the wind trying to reduce the weight of a 3500+ lb car with the intention of racing it. whatever floats your boat though.

 

do some work to your engine, reducing weight wont help much, and you car will look uglyyy….
